Det/Sgt. James F. McLaughlin, of the Keene police department, kept in close contact with the blogTV moderator until the predator was able to be brought to justice!
The blogTV moderation team has shown itself to rise above and beyond the call of duty once again in its efforts to keep the blogTV community safe from dangerous online predators. We are very proud of our moderators and know they will continue to do a stand-up job.
Predators beware! Crime does not pay on blogTV and you WILL pay for your actions!
This is a reminder to all our users to please broadcast safely, and always report suspicious activity to moderation@blogTV.com
Any questions or suggestions? Feel free to contact community manager, Kara-Hannah at Community@blogTV.com.
Yes this very disturbing behavior! When someone can hide behind a cpu & try to be in disguise & do all of these wicked, sick groteste things. My sentiment is be carefull what you do on blog. Because it may come back to haunt you. " think global not local"
In the past i tried so dilligently to protect young girls from the perverts on blog. And for a time i did manage to get get quite a few banned(75 pervs) out of some rooms. Now you have to understand some of them were 14yrs. And when i try to do the right thing & keep (4chan) from trying to get these girls to go take off bra or lure them over to tinychat, to see them naked, or stalk them via twitter, facebook ecct....I am being labled as a pervert for just being in room. How ironic, the perverts who type nasty things are attacking me! Have since given up on helping these young nieve girls.
Just want to commend the MODS for swift & clever action tracking this guy. And his just desert should be 6 months in county jail.

I applaud this effort which sends out a message that things are noticed online. A lot of things could be avoided if broadcasters obeyed simple internet safety techniques which include not giving out personal information such as messenger, staying on BlogTV without being drawn to other sites. TOS is there for a reason, acting appropriately is in the broadcasters interest Two things I would add it's good that people warn girls in rooms but you face a losing battle in a room of 150 chatters the ultimate sanction is to monitor and flag as necessary. Secondly BlogTV should make the opening of an account verifiable by methods other then email address this would stop a lot of the spammers.

Bravo and kudos to mod who assisted in capture.. It makes me feel better about the safety of our junior broadcasters. They are just as important as the adults

Its sad but if you have a young female who has alot of clevage i have noticed Blogtv will feature them sometimes I am one who never really strives to be featured I enjoy blogtv for its original purpose

Listen to Whiter_Liar, 4chan is a site for sharing pics of kittens. Ebaums World is the assholes of the internet.

I think that the moderator Did a very good job in catching such a person but you have to think for every 1 comes a thousand and that there are also other people even teens these days saying as i am one that doesnt mix well with the crowd just standing and watching that some offenders became offenders because of a male/female alluring their sexual prowess
Posted by: Monitork1O | October 28, 2010 at 09:27 PM
The thought that the mods are watching after us makes me feel safe. But I also know that the mods are not robots and we can't hold them responsible for our own safety. At the end of the day BlogTV is not a kindergarten where parents can just throw their kids and then blame the teacher for their bad behavior. So I thank the mods and congratulate them on catching that predator but I also don't forget I'm responsible for my own safety and deeds.

It's amazing that you run out to announce this, and pat yourself on the back, when you continue to knowingly allow and protect the worst of the offenders on your site. I'm glad you like to think you are doing even a somewhat adequate job protecting paying users but the fact remains that blogtv has a long record of failing to be able to "moderate" in a professional manner. The horror stories are aplenty of former Pro Account owners who were clearly wrongfully banned and flatly dismissed by "mods" who were either too lazy or too unqualified to verify before taking drastic actions.
Kudos for "catching a predator" and being smart enough not to drop the person's name on your blog which he would have no doubt used against you as libel if his charges were dropped. TY for protecting us.

Very well put lapache! The mods do the best job possible but cannot and will not ever be a replacement for good parenting. People must understand that there are many dangers on the internet and they need to impart good safety rules onto their children if they are going to allow them to use such sites on their own.
Paul, you sound upset... could it be because you are one of the people who have been IP banned from blogTV for constant harassment and rule breaking? If the mods were so lazy, they probably would not have caught you as well. It always amuses us to see that people who have been handled by the moderation team love to speak out against them.

Well congrats to Blogtv but really what it comes down to is the parents of these kids. I strongly think kids need to be more educated of such things. Leaving your child (especially the very young)with a computer in their bedroom is like a loaded gun. I warn girls all the time flag shows, and I'm the bad one in the end. It baffles my mind how stupid many of these girls are. Many kids today own cell phones think about it if your phone can take pics so can your computer. WAKE UP ALREADY!!! I do hope this news makes the rest of the Pedos out there think twice before they try to take advantage of these girls.

Is it possible for you to post his name and his blognicks so the prick is more exposed? Scum like that do not deserve to be protected.
Posted by: Blogtv Fan | October 30, 2010 at 07:31 PM
It's a great thing that some of these young teens have people like you out there, Gumcheeks. As a community we would hope that others would follow in your footsteps and also try to warn the naive teens when they see them getting into trouble. The mods can do their best, but without parental and community support, there will never be enough people telling them about how dangerous it really is on the internet.
Other adults should really try to lead by example rather than going ahead and taking their clothes off on camera for strangers. Younger teens see adults doing this and getting viewers and they mimic the behavior.

So blogTV why don't you simply INFORM your female broadcasters about what's going on around camsites, about the predators you can't do anything about, the capping culture and all that follows? In most cases girls become victims BECAUSE they lack this information. Knowledge is the beat protection. Currently "heroes" are the only ones that do that job but they can't always be everywhere and they very often fail.
To make sure they've read the info you can make them successfully answer a survey before they're able to start their first broadcast. In addition to that you could add a link to webcamsafety.org/ which I think is also a good source. Just give them the information.
Posted by: ron | November 01, 2010 at 04:31 PM
Give (EVERYONE) not only young ones a survey for them to agree to. Something like "I'M AWARE THAT WHILE GOING ON CAM THAT I MAY BE RECORDED OR SCREEN SHOTS COULD BE TAKEN BY VIEWERS AND POSTED ON SITES" before they start their first broadcast or cohosting for others. I'm sure many ADULTS and KIDS don't even read THE TOS RULES. If they are more educated this could make a big difference.

Actually the mods handle hundreds of people like this on a weekly basis, but rarely ever get police backup to have something done about it. So, while you may be mocking their efforts, it it not them you should be upset with. The police in this case actually responded to the reports and were patient enough to gather evidence from the mods and then make an arrest. Most of the time (99%) the police, so called online protection agencies and so forth never answer the call for help. So, the mods continue blocking these people from the site over and over and over since that is their only means of keeping them away.
Until there is better police back up for websites, there wont be enough predators caught.
So when you ask if this is much of an achievement, YES it absolutely is.
Once again, I can point out that those of you who are mocking the efforts here are also people who have been previously blocked from the site for rule breaking. Thus making the moderators job even harder and wasting their precious time which could be better used blocking more predators.
Unfortunately, since you have chosen to (once again) break the rules in this comment above, it will need to be deleted.

It is a simple tragic misunderstanding of commonalities that leaves BlogTV Moderators in a position of both defiance and self reliance. Working with dozens of chat sites and handling hundreds of abuse incidents per month me and a small network of individuals of all ages patrol sites such as blogtv.com and warn resident users of abuse and alert them in various manners.
BlogTV with a reputation for commonly explaining courage and robust actions when dealing with online predators in fact ranks in the top 5 webcam chat sites most UNSAFE for minors to be using.
Ratings and statistics provided by our measured efforts at helping teens, prove that BlogTV not only ignores many emails and distributed information about users who violate their Terms Of Service, but in fact have complete disregard to much of the abuse which occurs on their site.
Until a formal investigation is made public the fact that blogtv.com remains dissident about abuse that occurs on their site will only make things worse for their users. A recent event such as www.blogtv.com/people/dolphinlovesu where on Saturday November 6, 2010 an online investigator working in my unit witnessed a female approximately 12 years of age preforming various sexual acts on her BlogTV webcam show, including masturbation and other lewd actions. The show ran for 10 minutes like this WITH A BLOGTV MODERATOR PRESENT!
Can BlogTV explain for its actions on that day?
Many times users are found speaking sexually to minors and even suggesting they preform lewd acts on webcam but their accounts remain highly active.
BlogTV will pay for its actions as the evidence mounts for sexual abuse of minors might pay BlogTV with advertising revenue but advertisers will be made very aware of the kinds of programming they are receiving hits for.
We demand BlogTV take a vigilant stand against child sexual exploitation on their site immediately, closing accounts and monitoring rooms, disabling users who post links to lure girls to other chats and asking for nudity.
